Shatadhauta Ghrita for sensitive skin FAQ
Gentle, ghee-based, and washed 100 times — but is it right for your skin?

Shatadhauta Ghrita — ghee washed 100 times in water — is one of the gentlest classical Ayurvedic preparations, which is exactly why so many people ask us whether it's suitable for sensitive, delicate, or reactive skin. Here are the questions we hear most often.

Is It Suitable for Sensitive Skin?

The repeated washing process is traditionally described as making the ghee cooler and lighter in nature, which is why it has long been used in classical texts for delicate skin care. That said, everyone's skin is different, and even gentle, natural ingredients can occasionally cause a reaction in some individuals.

Should I Patch-Test First?

Yes — we recommend applying a small amount to your inner wrist or forearm and waiting 24 hours before using any new skincare product on your face, including Shatadhauta Ghrita.

Can It Be Used Around the Eyes?

Many people do use it gently around the eye area, but if you have particularly reactive skin in that region, introduce it slowly and discontinue if you notice any irritation.

Is It Safe During Pregnancy or While Breastfeeding?

While Shatadhauta Ghrita is a simple, traditional preparation, we recommend that pregnant or nursing mothers check with their doctor before introducing any new skincare product, including this one.

What If My Skin Feels Irritated After Use?

Discontinue use and consult a dermatologist or your Ayurvedic doctor. Individual skin reactions vary, and this applies to natural ingredients just as much as synthetic ones.

Is It a Treatment for Skin Conditions Like Eczema or Psoriasis?

No. Shatadhauta Ghrita is a traditional moisturiser, not a treatment for diagnosed skin conditions. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, please continue following your dermatologist's treatment plan and discuss any additions to your routine with them first.
